COPA Flight 176 - Rust Remover - 2015
COPA Flight 176 (Edmonton) - Rust Remover 2015Saturday, April 25, 2015The 2015 Rust Remover was a tremendous success. We had north of 70 pilots in attendance. The theme was “Going to Oshkosh”. We had presentations on all the procedures and flight planning required by Bram Tilroe. We had a presentation on human factors by Gord Welsby which asked the question, “am I good to go?”. We had a presentation by Bob Whitley on airpspace issues and communication. And we had a presentation by Mike from Transport Canada on what happens when pilots make mistakes. We had a lot of positive feedback from those in attendance and it is always fantastic to be sitting amongst the amazing aircraft at the Alberta Aviation Museum.None of this would be possible without all the hard work by the people who planned and coordinated this event. Also, we would like to thank the generous contributions of food from Rob and the door prizes donated by Calgary Pilot Supply. We’ll see all of you next year.Agenda08:00 - 09:00Registration09:00 - 09:15Opening Remarks [Terry Allen]09:15 - 09:30“Going to Oshkosh” [Eldon Gjesdal]09:30 - 10:30“Where am I going and how am I going to get there” - flight planning / border crossing / navigation / aviation regulations [Bram Tilroe]10:30 - 10:45< break >10:45 - 11:45“Am I good to go?” - human factors [Gord Welsby]11:45 - 12:45< lunch >12:45 - 13:45“I’m on my way, who do I talk to?” - navigation / communications with ATC, aviation regulations [Bob Whitley]13:45 - 15:15“Lets learn from other pilot mistakes and not make them ourselves” - human factors, weather, navigation, flight planning, communication [Mike/ TC]15:15 - 15:30wrap-up / door prizes / networking / hangar flying
